Lenny,

Velcro works well for this purpose. Picked up some Velcro at a craft shop 
that had the Velcro in different shapes, 5 years ago and place it on my 
smooth oven controls and it is still in place. What I liked about it, was 
able to put the smooth and rough surfaces, (some round and some square) on 
the controls for easy recognition.
