Hi Larry, I had the air ducts professionally cleaned and damn glad I did. They are sheet metal ducts and 25 years of smoking in the house by prior owners plus all the other regular crap that sticks to the ductswas all cleaned out and the house smelled like a house should. This house is in Southern California so humidity did not play too much of a role with things being stuck to the ducts. Depending on the age, what the ducts are made of and weather conditions where you live it would probably be a good move having them professionally cleaned.

What do we know about air duct cleaning? My first reaction was that is some kind of a scam and then my Mom had it done and she claimed that she was breathing better. Is this one of those projects where I can buy the tools and do it myself or is it better left to the guy with all of the wazoo equipment. Let me know what youall think.
