Hello Victor, You probably have a valid argument however I am doing my best to follow the list guidelines. I think that the list guidelines are very well defined. For computer software there are many other better sources. For example on this list with 240 plus members there may only be one or two using a particular piece of software where as there is a list of about 200 users of that particular product. I see that you are a moderator of a guide dog list. Have you ever had the problem that if you let an off topic proceed that some members complain to you off list? Sometimes it seams like we can't win. Some complain when/if the thread is stopped and then others complain if it isn't. As not to clutter the list with more off topic posts after I flagged the zoomtext message, I privately contacted Tom with information about lists specific for zoomtext. I took the time to search for an appropriate list and included the subscription information. I also offered to have some people that I know that are using screen magnification software to contact him for more detailed questions. There were many posts on this list that were indeed off topic however I and the list owners felt that the information was beneficial to some on the list and left it go for a while. Hi Lenny, I think that the phrase taken from the post you just sent about computer hardware being on topic is a bit of a grey area, since the hardware will invariably involve installing drivers and other software related to that hardware. Add to that the fact that we, as blind and visually impaired members of the community will require software designed to help us interact with that hardware and additional software would bring the ZoomText thread on-topic for this list. I guess we should have some type of clarification on this.
