It can be done by first pulling it up in a corner then cutting while you have part pulled in the air. probably for most it doesn't matter. When I removed the carpet from the living and dining room I cut it into 3 foot long sections so it would easily fit in garbage bags. When I got to the underpayment foam pad I must have run into removing 1,000 staples.After pulling a hundred or so I gave my daughter a hammer and told her to have fun and take out her frustrations hammering in the staples. I knew that the installers would use another 1,000 staples for the new pad. If one has wood flooring under the carpet, how can you cut the carpet to get it out with out marring the wood flooring below?
