If you are one of those folks who spent the money to buy and build a new
pool or are continuing to keep an older swimming pool running in
this summer heat might I share briefly what I am doing. In previous
years I may have kept adding extra powdered shock or bottled shock/
chlorine to the pool to maintain the levels needed to keep back any
algae or other problems. this summer I have just kept adding an
additional cup or 2 cups of baking soda, mixed with some pool water
and then tossed in right where the water blows back in or at the return
lines. We have had an excessive amount of rain this summer, in my
opinion here in Upstate New York and only one time after getting over 4
inches of rain in one night did we add any extra chlorine. .Just a
fyi. Lee
