If you can put 10 - 15 pounds of dry clothes in a washer, the washer must be
the size of a car (grin)!

Depending on brand and age, it might not be worth it.

Today most weights are molded into the tub and balanced before leaving the
factory. This is an area you have to be pretty exact.

Think about this. When you put 10 or 15 pounds of dry clothes in the
machine, the first thing that happens is they get covered in water. Now
those 15 pounds of clothes weigh closer to 50 pounds. When the machine
drains the water from the tub there is still the weight of the wet clothes
to deal with. As the tub starts to spin, and all machines have a different
spin speed, the remaining water is forced from the clothes by centrifugal
force. Get that out of balance and it multiplies the force on the side of
the tub.

So you may want to check the obvious and see if there is a spring or bracket
that has come loose. If a weight has come out or any number of other
reasons, a bent spindle for example, you'll probably pull your hair out and
entertain the kids before ever fixing the problem.

But I don't like the word never so see what you can find.

Ok, this is the first time I've posted to this list but I like to see
what all problems you guys fix and then steal your ideas. That's just
the way I roll! Anyway, My washing machine is off balance. Not the
outside legs or anything but the inside tub. I've wrestled with it but
it won't go back like it should. It still works so I'm still using it
but I would like to balance the tub again. Do I need to take the back
off and if I do, what do I look for? Are there washers or weights or
something like that to be replaced as a part of regular maintenance?
Thanks for any suggestions,

JoV
