Well it probably comes down to cost and what you find acceptable. The patches 
will show but you can have a smooth driveway and get probably many more years 
out of it. Eventually it may need resurfacing but this might only mean a thin 
resurfacing. What it will cost you I don't know but ripping up and removing and 
reinstalling tarmac is pretty expensive and I understand with the price of oil 
on the rise costing more.
