Others have already explained a cope cut. I've tried it, but it takes quite a bit of skill, which I apparently do not have. So, since most corners are not 90 degrees, I use a device that you push into the corner and it has a fin on top that bisects the angle. You then take this to your mitre saw, align one leg to the fence, and the blade to the fin. Now you can make the cuts exactly bisecting the angle so that when you fit the molding back in place, it makes a perfect fit. I got it from Lee Valley, I don't remember what it is called exactly, but it came up when I did a search on their site for bevel gauges or something similar. -- Blue skies.
