I just did the same job and had to purchase a $40 permit. I had to go to a town meeting tonight about my deck building project. They were kind of worried what was going on since I put the roof on it and had a second floor in it. Since I studded the west wall facing the road it looked like a full blown building and said I needed a permit and had to meet with them. I explained what was going on and it was put on the table, voted and approved on the spot. They did ask that I fill out the paper work and get it to them as soon as possible.
