Bob,
I know that the dealerships use only new parts, I was under the impression 
that the old ones were sold to the remanufacturing businesses for auto parts 
stores.

Dealerships are supposed to use new parts.  And you don't have to take the
parts home, just look at them so everything is accounted for.
