Jennifer:
I suspect you could go through a whole bunch of cats before finding one with 
the drive to kill enough mice to make it worth your whle.  Another thing to 
remember is that if a mouse has been poisoned and is eaten by a cat, the cat 
will likely become sick or die.  We have an indoor outdoor cat who really does 
keep the mice population down, but as far as we know, he doesn't eat them.  
This was just how he tjurned out, and the neightors' cats don't kill mice at 
all.
There are some cool-looking rodent zappers available now if you're squeamish 
about blood and gutts.  I suspect that the vet clinic is where your problem is 
starting,  and perhaps they need to do some more pest-control.
I've made do-it-yourself mouse killers out of buckets with wheels smeared with 
cheese wiz before, and if your problem is really severe, you might try 
something like that.
