Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Raising Up the Roller Door

  Hi All

I have just finished raising up the roller door 4 inches so instead of the
roll hanging down passed the Dorr opening it now is up clear.

I had to do this so our new caravan can run inside without ripping off the
  door.

I did one side at a time so the spring tension was not lost, by using a
piece of heavy gauge steel channel as packing piece which sat on top of the
support brackets that were already there.

I had to drill holes in the bottom to take bolts and holes in the top to
  take the U bolts.

I pulled down the door so the weight was taken off the roll and it was
  easier to lift.

I used a combination square to measure the distance from the vertical
support to the side of the axle so I could placed it back exactly where it
  was before.

I sprayed the brackets with cold galvanising spray paint so they would not
  go rusty.

I was pleased that the spring tension was not lost and the door works
successfully after altering its original position.

  Ray
