Folks, I own a split-level and so I have two attics. I want to install attic fans that will extract the heat, which I understand will really help keep my house cooler and help keep the roof around longer. Now the question becomes whether a gable fan or a fan that installs into the side of the house would be best, not a good idea, or makes no difference than a fan that installs in the roof. Of course in either case I plan to get some help whether I do the work or contract it out I guess will depend upon which route I go. THe main thing is to avoid causing leaks and other problems I don't want to deal with after the fact. grin. So, any advantages or disadvantages with either option? They even got some now that have solar panels, which cost more, but avoid the issue of wiring. Not sure what the minimum amount of sunlight they can work with, but I imagine that might be a factor and oh are they expensive; nearly twice the price. grin
