Mike, Thanks for this article. It was a very interesting read. I am not sure that I fully absorbed all the information, but I did get a few key points. Firstly, the difference in life expectancy of a composite roof with a sealed or vented attic is fairly small. Apparently, venting may not provide as much cooling as one would expect. Maybe Brice can weigh in here as I know he installed a powered vent. Brice, do you know what your attic temps were before and after venting?
Secondly, the concept of insulating above the roof deck and below the shingles was pretty interesting. I don't think I would have thought of that.
