hi if you put in a solid door that should help. also back in the day my bed room was across from my parents room. there was a heating duct there. for all summer i took off the grill and stuffed it with foam rubber to keep the noise from going right through.
also if his speakers are hanging on the wall hang them from the ceiling using rope. the rope will help dampen the sound that is transmitted through the walls. or if they are on a hard surface try putting a thick pad of some sort under them to do the same thing.
