Dale, I finally figured it out when you mentioned that the back is 14 inches high. The sides are to slope from 9 1/4 to 14 1/4. With the back 14 inches it would leave a 1/4 inch gap under the roof. Likewise the front is to be 1/4 to 3/8 inches lower than the roof to give the front room to swing up for cleaning. So where the plans mention the sides they really mean the front and back. I think that they need some blind handy men and women to correctly write the instructions. Maybe I will do it after I complete a prototype. I purchased two pieces of wood to make one completed box and the other with everything cut and drilled. The kids could then use these pieces for templates. To get the larger piece for the roof I will join two boards together.
