Most contractor saws start at 1.5 HP and go up to 2. The hybrids are mostly 1.75 and the cabinet saws are the big boys.
The higher HP is for cutting thicker stock. If you ever tried ripping a piece of 8 quarter maple, cherry or oak, you can bog the saw down pretty easily. ----- Original Message ----- From: Blaine Deutscher To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, March 07, 2010 11:21 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Table saw injury report. well I'm assuming that is a lot of horse power to run a saw, not sure what the regular rate to run one of those is, but logs? hahaha.
