Max, Believe it or not, according to the guy who built the studio, and I won't go into it, but this is the kind of guy who doesn't just read the quick start guide to building a studio, he actually investigated the physics behind the claims he read, mass-air-mass is the best sound dampener. Putting another layer in there, mass-air-mass-air-mass doesn't help that much, and under some conditions can make it worse.
also, completely sealing the room is essential. He said that an experiment was done where these guys had built an extremely sound proof room, if you want to call it that. They fired a gun blank in the room and you couldn't hear it on the outside of the room. They then drilled a one eighth inch hole through one of the walls, and you could hear people inside the room talking.
