Interesting question. As someone else said what are we protecting them from? I use the flimsy latex when staining, furniture stripping and installing fiberglass insulation. Sometimes if digging a hole or similar repetitive operations I may put on a pair of leather gloves. Lined if it is cool. Sometimes I wear a pair of dry leather gloves when handling live electric circuits. If it is just plain cold I like lined leather. But honestly I don't wear gloves very often that is why my hands are beat to death from hammer hits and knife cuts. Usually rinse my hands with rubbing alcohol after I wash with soap and water so hardly ever get infections.
