According to Tim:
Sometimes my password
manager will put a password or credit-card number on my clipboard
and clipit will dutifully note it and keep it in the history.

One more reason why I personally can't stand storing passwords. I do put such things into a 256-bit encrypted 7z file, but I don't like copying those things into the clipboard, since even without a clipboard history manager, the last thing that gets copied can be pasted anywhere by anyone with access to the clipboard, either via history or a shell command. If I can do it, I would much rather type that stuff manually than copy and paste it.
