>From user's POV, I'm not convinced, I'll be happy with a new project starting with, let's say, 13678... It is true, that immutable tags would greatly reduce the availability of "nice" tags (given enough time), but this is an only a real problem for a public repository that hosts 100s/1000s of projects.
