I'd recommend changing your layout.  Use one column to contain both
link and content so that they share the same parent  and therefore
your link should be able to match the height of its parent fully.  I
think in your current layout your expecting table-type behaviours
where they will not apply.  The two columns you have now are separate
and wont influence each other the way you want.
