The Release Notes for BOINC 6.6.36 are incorrect with respect to the directions
for creating a silent installation. Those directions apply to a much older
version of BOINC.

The incorrect (outdated) directions are:

-------------------------------------------------
To run BOINC invisibly, choose the "Protected application execution" option,
then delete the BOINC shortcut from the Start/Programs/BOINC and
Start/Programs/Startup menus (locate BOINC in each menu, right-click, select
Delete). You can still run the BOINC Manager by going to C:\Program Files\BOINC
and double-clicking on boincmgr.exe
-------------------------------------------------

The correct directions are:

-------------------------------------------------
To run BOINC invisibly,

1) Install options screen - click Advanced, uncheck Screensaver and check
Protected Application Execution.
2) After restart, click Advanced View.
3) Select menu item Advanced < Options, uncheck Run Manager at Login, uncheck
Enable Manager Exit Dialog, move Network Reminder Interval slider to 120, click
OK.
4) Select menu item File < Exit. [Note: If you simply use the X button to
close the window, none of your changes will be saved and the installation will
fail to be silent!]
5) In Start < Programs, right-click the BOINC folder and select Delete.
6) Reboot. If you see a BOINC system tray icon, the BOINC Manager screen, or
any other indication of non-silent installation, repeat these steps as needed.
