To BOINC, I noticed a couple of minor oddities on boinc.berkley.edu and with the manger (6.6.36) that I thought I should post here. The first is that for some reason, when I open my browser (firefox 3.5.1) on my Mac 10.5.7 (intel) system the bookmark for boinc's website displays the really old icon for boinc, which is a blue orb with a yellow "B" in the center. The second I navigate to the site it is replaced with the current one. I assumed this to be old info in my cache the first time, so I used Onyx to wipe bookmark icons specifically. After this it was fixed for a few weeks, after which the same exact thing happened again.
The second thing is that the preferences windows in the manager refers to "web-based settings". A friend of mine who I recently got to contribute to a project though boinc mistakenly though that meant that the preferences can be modified through boinc.berkley.edu. Maybe there should be a clarification on boinc's main site saying that preferences can be modified only through the projects' sites. The third and final confusing thing I noticed is that both the manager and web-based setting have a version of the "On multiprocessors, use at most" setting. However the local manager preferences has the user give the setting in a percentage form while the web setting have the user specify a specific number of processors to use on multiprocessor systems.
