I seem to have resolved the problem by just installing libtool again. For reference, I found this similar problem with MySQL: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=35651
I did the command: yum install libtool (as shown in the bug report) and now the autosetup completes normally. My yum list libtool now shows: Installed Packages libtool.i386 1.5.24-3.fc8 installed (note that previously it showed as an "available" package and "fedora", and now it shows as an installed package... smacks forehead... reviews prereqs list a second time...) Thanks to all for assisting. Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's.
