And I like BOINC and the idea behind.
I'd like to give help in that project - mostly as a tester.

And therefore I cannot resist to ask why GIT is used for the development
of BOINC instead of SVN nowadays, if
- cherry picking isn't really working due to the mentioned reasons
- bisecting isn't working for some peoples due to CR/LF conversation issues
- the "git log" features doesn't seem to be used heavily (or why is
checkin_notes still written ?)
- "git describe" doesn't match the (too naive ?) expectation - eg. for
the remote branch "client_release_7.0a" git delivers the string
"client_release_7.0.36-129-g27e74e2" for a post-7.0.42 version.
