Hi Gianfranco,

By "user clicks on close" do you mean clicking on the red x (close box)?  If 
so, that is the intended operation, and the way it works on all platforms.  

Exiting the Manager also causes the BOINC Client to exit, stopping all work 
until BOINC is launched again.  Because we assume this is not typically what 
the users want, clicking on the manager window's close box on Mac, Windows and 
Linux only "hides" the Manager.  If you really want the BOINC Manager and 
Client to exit, you must select "Exit  BOINC" from the File menu.  This has 
been the way it works for many years.
