You may be able to use "homogeneous app version":

This ensures that the instances of a given job are done using the same app
version.

Hi,

is it possible to set a app version affinity for job. I realize BOINC doesn't
seem to have a concept of job, so it's why I'm struggling with this. What we
are looking to do is when we start creating workunits for a job we would use
the latest version of the app and keep using that version even if subsequently
a new version is available during the life of the job. The way the job is split
in workunit might be depend on the version of the app and we have some
scenarios in mind where there's no clean way to bridge it when switching to a
newer app version. I hope I'm making sense.

The easiest way I can think would be to set app_version_id in the wu before
calling create_work but is it going to be used or overwritten by the scheduler?
Is there another, proper mechanism to do this?

Thanks

Seb
