Since I first wrote about Diet BOINC I have made a lot of progress on it. I have:
Tightened up the code considerably, it is now much more efficient and less resource intensive on the computer running it. Streamlined default file locations and BOINC stats file seeking so Diet BOINC is far less likely to be Linux distro specific. Tweaked the code to run on CentOS/Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu. Tested the module in CentOS Linux and Ubuntu successfully (Diet BOINC will not be available for Mac, at least not at this time). Written an installer script and installation documentation. Barring any constructive criticism, I think this is ready to go. The (vastly updated) beta is at http://www.pkcarlisle.com/dietboinc.zip To test it you must be running Linux, Xscreensaver, and BOINC. Feedback on any aspect of the project is welcome. -- Web: www.pkcarlisle.com Twitter: @pkcarlislellc Voicemail: +12026815171 PGP: 0x35FC1FD4BF3CB150 -- _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address.
