ManU fans to bring Glazer protests stateside* http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/stories/2004/07/12/daily3.html Fans of Manchester United, the British soccer club for which Glazer is rumored to be mounting a takeover bid, are planning to bring their fight across the Atlantic Ocean to three of the team's preseason tour stops in the United States, according to a report Monday by ESPNSoccernet.com. A huge "Not4Sale" banner that was hoisted at the team's Old Trafford stadium last season will be displayed July 31 during a match between ManU and AC Milan at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. A group called Shareholders United plans to lead anti-Glazer rallies at other game venues in Chicago and Philadelphia. "The banner is a useful focal point for us and we expect it to be on display at all three matches, so Malcolm Glazer can see just how opposed we are to any prospect of him taking control," Richard Stubbs, a spokesman for Shareholders United, told ESPNSoccernet.com. ManU fans have expressed concern and outrage that Glazer, who now owns 19.2 percent of the club's stock, is attempting to become majority owner. They cited Glazer's ticket price hikes for Bucs games in Tampa as an example of what they perceive as bad ownership. Glazer has owned the Bucs since 1995. In addition to convincing Tampa officials to replace the city's aging football stadium, he initiated a 10-year seat-licensing fee for season ticket holders that began with the opening of Raymond James Stadium in 1998.
