GERRARD: NO NEED TO PANIC

Steven Gerrard today insisted that despite Liverpool suffering a
shock 5-0 defeat to FSV Mainz on Friday, it'll be a different story
when the season starts properly on Wednesday.
The Reds might have lost the last three matches of an intensive pre-
season campaign but the Liverpool captain is sure normal service will
be resumed when the club host Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa in the
third qualifying round first leg of the Champions League on Wednesday
night.
"The message is don't panic," declared Gerrard. "I know people are
going to look at the score and be shocked, but you've got to look at
the factors. We've been doing a lot of hard work all week, including
some weight training before matches, which has taken a lot out of the
lads.
"It's never a nice feeling to lose any game for Liverpool, but what
happened at the end was understandable. This trip has been all about
fitness and it's been a tough ten days, but it's going to be
different when the competitive games start."
