This is what today's Bolton News says: -
"Sam Allardyce has offered to help ease Chelsea's goalkeeping blues.
The Wanderers boss says he would let Jose Mourinho take either Ian Walker or
Ali Al-Habsi on emergency loan to cover for the loss of Petr Cech and Carlo
Cudicini, who were both stretchered off in Saturday's 1-0 win at Reading.
Cech faces a lengthy lay-off after needing surgery on a depressed fracture of
his skull sustained in collision with Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt and,
although Cudicini's injuries are much less serious, the champions clearly have
major problems on the goalkeeping front and Wanderers are in a position to help.
Allardyce has been trying for some time to set up a loan move for Al-Habsi,
the Oman international who is third in line at the Reebokand who has been
desperately short of match practice since arriving from the Norwegian club, Lyn
Oslo, in January.
But he has also said he would be willing to loan out Walker, the former
England international who is understudy to the outstanding Jussi Jaaskelainen
and whose only senior appearance this season came in the Carling Cup at Walsall.
"We've got the best three in the Premiership," Allardyce said. "If Chelsea
came asking, we'd listen."
Mourinho was more incensed by Hunt's charge on Cech in the opening minutes
than he was over Ibrahim Sonlo's challenge that knocked Cudicini unconscious in
the closing minutes, but Chelsea have confirmed they will be contacting the FA
with their observations on both incidents."
So there you have it - Bolton need to get match practice for their junior
keepers. I suppose that's been known for a while, and it has been City's
choice not to take advantage of their availability. I've also heard on the qt
that Mourinho was especially supportive of Big Sam when all the drivel came out
about alleged bungs a couple of weeks back. Add to that the fact that Sam has
Max Clifford working for him now, and this seems like the kind of action that
Clifford would have advised.
