In 2003, he scored 23 Serie B goals in 44 matches, helped Fiorentina promoted to Serie A, and earn his Serie A debut in age of 30. He was loaned to Empoli F.C. in 2005/06 season. He was team captain of The Viola before loaned to Empoli, Dario Dainelli succeeded as team captain.
