Nash vs. Nowitzki for MVP

All season long, former teammates Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki have been the
MVP frontrunners.
Nowitzki's performance has his Dallas Mavericks on pace to finish just under
70 wins. Much of his improved play can be attributed to his career high in
assists while still scoring his usual 25 points per game, despite taking less
shots. Nash, for unselfish play has always been his trademark, but his career
high in scoring and field goal percentage has the Phoenix Suns challenging the
Mavericks for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
Despite Kobe Bryant's miraculous scoring streak, his Los Angeles Lakers remain
on pace to finish under 50 wins and with Moses Malone being the only other MVP
on a sub-50 win team in the last 25 years, Bryant will have to wait another
year for the individual award.
LeBron James remains in the mix, mostly due to his post-All Star break
resurgence, but the MVP award is meant to celebrate the best individual season,
not half a season.
Nowitzki's Mavericks have won two of the three showdowns against Nash's Suns
this season, but the two teams will face off one last time this regular season
Sunday in Phoenix.
