6 May 2007 WANT-AWAY NIC IS £9M JUVE TARGET Exclusive by Steve Bates And Alan Nixon
NICOLAS ANELKA is on the move again - with Juventus his likely next destination. The wandering Frenchman is set to quit Bolton and disgraced Italian giants Juventus, relegated last year in the wake of the match-fixing scandal, are on their way back to Serie A. Boss Didier Deschamps is believed to have lined up a £9million move for Anelka, 28, who has told friends he's ready to quit the Reebok. He made up his mind before Sam Allardyce surprisingly quit Bolton after eight years in charge. Allardyce feared he'd lose Anelka this summer and it's unlikely he'll stay under new boss Sammy Lee, who will be looking for a replacement for "Le Sulk". Since starting as a youth player with Paris St Germain, Anelka has had spells at Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG a second time, Liverpool on loan, Manchester City, Turkish side Fenerbahce and Bolton. Juventus may have competition from Everton and Middlesbrough, but it's believed Anelka wants to join what he has called a "big" club after hinting in January that he'd jump at the chance to move back to Arsenal - just five months after arriving at the Reebok. Anelka knows Deschamps and is thought to be excited about the challenge of making Juventus a force again in Serie A. Meanwhile, Bolton want to offer keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen a new contract - to keep him away from the clutches of former boss Sam Allardyce. Worried Wanderers want the Finnish star to agree a long-term deal to protect them from a bid by Allardyce when he finds a new club. Jaaskelainen would be a priority capture if Big Sam turns up at Manchester City or Newcastle United in the summer. Anxious officials have spoken to Jaaskelainen about a new contract, although there is a problem because they are trying to sideline his agent Peter Harrison. He brought Jaaskelainen, 32, to Bolton from Finland in 1997 and has been his adviser ever since. Bolton want to put another agent into the negotiations but the keeper has refused.
