Looking at the code it should work...  What is happening when you try?

I should add though that I decided against using the backup command
for this purpose for several reasons:

1) The files get bigger, not smaller, like a zip file would
2) It's labor intensive for the wiki--often causing timeout's if
there's a large number of pages
3) Some files are not included, like config files, graphics, etc.
4) It is a non-standard format and can not be easily unzipped by
anything but BoltWire.

It works fine for things like plugins and the like, but my
recommendation for backing up an entire wiki is to use a program that
simply creates a zip file. In linux, I believe you can even set up
special shell commands to do this automatically. Just don't know much
about linux myself.
