This is a good idea.  You can set BOLTmissingMark to false in
site.config, or modify it based on conditions in a config.php file.
(Like, if ! admin...). That will get rid of the little red question
mark, but not the link...

As for the other, I'm going to suggest we add the following line just
before the final return in BOLTMlinks (library.php):

        if (function_exists('myBOLTMlinks')) return myBOLTMlinks($link,
$defaultAttr, $attr, $label, $missingPage);

This gives the admin a hook to easily add any customization to the
output desired. Your function would do a simple check if the user has
write permissions and then return two different outputs based on the
results...  I've already committed to adding hooks like this here and
there to the code for easy customization for admins, where needed. And
this is one area where such a hook might be very useful. Will this
work for you?
