While using BoltWire, new ideas come into my mind: I'm creating a new version of a site design. I copied the old skin, styles and zones with the name of the new design. Then I simply change the skin in site.config and started modifing.
But then I realized there were some templates to be changed too. I use them to list news in the home page, and to show articles extracts from another section. I needed to change them because of the new general design: They could not be adapted only by CSS. I didn't think about this before: it seems templates don't belong to a specific design, like skins, styles and zones, right? Of course I can copy a template, e.g. "template.articleextract", and rename it "template.mynewdesign.articleextract", that's what I did, but I have to change its name in every search function that used the old "template.articleextract", from "articleextract" to "mynewdesign.articleextract". It would be nice if templates would be searched like zones, skins and styles. Then it would be a bit easier to create new designs from old ones, keep all of them together, and change from one to another. By the way, there's a terminology issue here too. "template", "layout" and "design" are generally used on the web to mean what BoltWire calls "skins"... But BoltWire's "skins" consist of "styles", "zones", "templates" and -- "skins"! In this message I used "design" instead of the usual term "skin".
