Normally this is slightly frowned on, as something called hotlinking. And the way the upload markup work, the full url will not work. There is however a little known trick built into the function for this purpose:
[^http=//www.fast.st/zip2/boltwire/farm/icons/boltwire.gif^] Basically put the url inside the [^ ^] markup, and change the : to an = sign. I won't go into the reasons of why it works. But it does. Now where do we document this? :) Kinda cool.
