I'm not sure how best to do this... We could create a solution
page/plugin for easy insertion. But I'm hesitant to put in the core as
there could be other desired permutations. What about sister pages as
well? Or parents/aunts/etc. I'd rather keep the core slim... And
maybe more confusing, would newbies unintentionally keep clicking the
"create here" action and burrow down deeper and deeper into some
arcane hierarchy without realizing it?

I did come up with another suggestion however. I just reworked the
pageshortcuts function to allow for links like [[=child]] to
automatically go to child pages. And as it is not in the links markup,
you should be able to add "=child" into the create action to get the
same result. It will come out in the next release.

What do you think of this idea instead?

Cheers,
Dan

P.S. I thought it might be kind of interesting to add this line to
your action.child page, to give a nice illusion of nested folders:

Create in this location: [(breadcrumb name=link separator=' / ')]

I just added a text=true option to the breadcrumb function to improve
the illusion, with this markup:

Create in this location: [(breadcrumb name=link separator='/' text=true)]

But you have to wait for 2.48
