Technically, from my perspective, a plugin is a particular type of
extension that involves additional php script. A skin is a different
kind of extension, and a backup file is a third. All of them help to
provide solutions to various problems. Of course the plugin/extension
distinction is quite artificial, and perhaps even more semantically
logical if reversed (adding php extends the code...). But that is at
least how I try to consistently use the terms. Extensions => plugins,
backups, skins, etc

I've wrestled with what to name this section of our site--really
liking PmWiki's analogy to recipes in a cookbook. But nothing really
grabbed me. Solutions is nice, but I think people will recognize the
meaning of extensions or plugins better. So when changing the skin I
thought perhaps we could rename the solutions area to extensions--as
being clearer. I haven't actually renamed the pages yet, because that
would likely break some links I don't feel like fixing just now. But I
will some day. Until then, I just changed the title/labels of the
various links. And have been rewriting text as I find references to
the solutions area.

Guess I should have discussed this with the group, but I honestly
uploaded the new skin with my tentative changes accidentally. And then
decided to leave it. I'm open to changing it back to solutions, but I
see you like extensions too. That's good! I think if you read through
the page text just now, you should note a more consistent use of
words.

I switched the solutions/extensions page to two columns instead of
three in light of the new narrower skin. We can try this for now.
Eventually though we can make it into a single long column or just
list categories. We'll try the two columns for now.

Cheers,
Dan
