It has to be just parent to the "pages" folder. The first time you run it, it creates a list of all the pages in your site. Then it begins scanning and fixing the pages one at a time. Well actually 100 at a time. When there are no pages left in the list, the site is updated, and you have an empty fix.list page. If it was blank the first time you ran the fix script, it must not be finding the pages folder or something. If it becomes blank after 4 or 5 page loads, that's exactly what should happen. I tried it on several of my fields. Each one it worked perfectly. It's mostly tested code from past upgrades, so I'm pretty sure it works properly...
