Ooops. Ok, that functionality exists. However, since fieldURL is called fieldURL and not fieldPath, I had set a url value, and boltwire was not able to parse it.
I updated my index.php file using the directory() command and now the plugins (tabbar) work fine. I still suggest renaming fieldPath, and using fieldURL as an actual URL.
