FWIW, mplayer is the only usable backend for me at the moment. The speakers in my flat are connected to a PulseAudio server, and the other computers play music remotely via esd. VLC's support for esd just doesn't work for me, I never managed to make it use a remote esd server even though everything appears to be configured properly. mpg123 works just fine with esd output, and supports elapsed/total time reporting, and (now) pausing. ogg123 works with esd too, but doesn't have elapsed/total time info, which makes it somewhat useless. mplayer supports everything, including esd output. -- Romain Francoise <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | The sea! the sea! the open it's a miracle -- http://orebokech.com/ | sea!
