I've had every book I sent reach many intl. locations, including a few
countries mentioned.

  I wonder how many unreceived books are due not to overseas or U.S. postal
services, but inadequate packaging, illegible addresses, etc.?

  I've been amazed at the number of incoming books from Paperback Swap members
(U.S. to U.S. shipping) that are literally coming apart at the seams due to
lack of sufficient tape. Some book wrapping or envelopes are torn, ripped and
barely hanging on! I always email the sender a friendly note to let them know
about this and suggested using *alot* more tape.

  While all the books I've ever rec'd from B/C'rs has been securely packaged
and taped (to prevent paper wrapping or the envelope from tearing), this may be
a big part of the problem.

  Since joining B/C, a few hints I've picked up along the way are:

  --  Write or print clearly and legibly;

  -- Tape over my return address and the sender's complete name and mailing
address with strong clear tape (prevents smudging, ripping, water damage);

  -- Securely tape the envelope or box with strong clear tape. As they remind
us at Paperback Swap, "more tape is better than not enough tape" (something
like that!).
