I read a lot this month – mostly because I was doing quite a few
books with my students. Our school is going to vote in the Colorado
Children's Book Awards and I had to make sure the whole school had
read a minimum of 3 of the books nominated. Even the best book gets
old after you've read it aloud for the 21st time.

Also, the Caldecott, Newbery and Printz winners were announced this
month and I had to read those (though I've not made it to the Printz
winner yet). I was disappointed with the Newbery winner – it's not
one I'm going to be able to sell to my students. I tried reading
Visitors from Oz, but never made it very far. I'm currently reading
Practical Magic and really enjoying it.

The best two books for me for January were Zen and the Art of Faking
It (an adopted Chinese boy moves to a new school where they are
studying Eastern Religions. Everyone just assumes he's a Zen master
and so he tries to be one) and Belle Prater's Boy.

Happy Reading for February
