I am pretty amazed at myself this month! 7 books read and 2 audios for a total
of 9 this month! That may be a record for me! LOL I read:

My Sister's Keeper - Bill Benner's (Kindle) B
This was a thriller with a bit of everything in it. A first novel (and only as
far as I can see) from this author and
I think he has some real potential. I couldn't wait to see what would happen
next. There are some over the
top moments but worth the read imo.

Martha is an investigative journalist. She is tracking down a serial rapist and
killer and goes to a warehouse
to get evidence. She is to meet a detective there but he is late and when she
investigates on her own, she is
pushed out of a 3rd story window and is paralyzed from the waist down. Richard
is her brother and comes
back to town to help his parents take care of her. When he is framed for a
murder he didn't commit, Martha
is the one who comes to his aid.

Candle Apple Dead - Sammi Carter - B
A cozy that takes place in Colorado. Abby returns to Colorado after a divorce
and moving back from California.
She has made friends with Brandon who owns a business not far from Abby's candy
shop. Brandon is found
murdered in his burned business and it looks like Abby's brother Wyatt is the
suspect. She works to clear his
name.

Finger Lick'n Fifteen - Janet Evanovich B+
I love these books, they are always a 'pick me up'. In this one a guy is
beheaded in front of Lula's car. Turns
out the guy was a chef who was there competing in a bbq cookoff. Naturally,
Lula and Grandma team up
to enter the cookoff and find the killer.

Still Alice - Lisa Genova A++
This was a very well written book about a 50 year old PHD who is diagnosed with
Alzheimer's Disease. It
is told from Alice's point of view and is a heartrending story of this disease
and the effects on the family as well
as the person suffering from it.

A Real Basket Case - Beth Groundwater B
This is a very light and fun cozy. Claire is found in her bedroom in her bra
and underwear with a hunky
gym trainer dead on her bed. Her husband is holding the gun that Enrique was
shot with when the police
come. Claire has to convince her husband first of all that she wasn't having an
affair, she was only getting
a massage, and has to clear her husband of the murder charges. She knows he
couldn't have done it! She
gets herself into some pretty funny predicaments along the way and it was made
even more fun for me
because it takes place in my home town and I recognized a lot of the places and
areas.

Pretties - Scott Westerfeld B+
I've liked both of these dystopian tales so far in the trilogy. Now that Tally
is a "Pretty" she parties all the
time but she is remembering her time in the Smokies with her friends. She is a
member of a group called
the Crims. They all seem to be an outcast group of the other "Pretties", they
still like to pull pranks like
they did when they were "Uglies". Tally is approached by a former friend from
when she was Ugly at a
costume party. Croy has brought her something that she will have to retrieve
when she can remember.
She and Zane, the Crims leader find the pouch that was left for Tally and there
are two pills in it with a note.
The Specials are getting close and Tally is afraid to take both pills so she
takes one and gives Zane the
other. They are becoming more clear headed and plan on escaping to the Smokies
again.

>From Black Rooms - Stephen Woodworth B+
The final book in the Violet series. I hated to see it end because I have
enjoyed reading about Natalie and her
daughter. In this one, someone is trying to MAKE Violets. The people they use
for subjects are going crazy
and the people responsible want Natalie to connect with the dead doctor who
developed the vaccine so he
can perfect it.

AUDIOS:

Dreamland - Kevin Baker - C
This had a lot of characters to remember but I enjoyed listening to the
different stories and how they related to
each other in historic New York.

Hadassah, One Night with the King - Tommy Tenny A
This is biblical fiction and the story of Esther, a Jewish girl who became
Queen of Persia. Very good story.

That's it!
