Know this is old, but with my boom it uses 4 watts when off and 6 watts
on with nothing playing.  I have echo connected, just leave the boom on
24/7 but set the idle display to off so it doesn't burn out the vfd. 
Every once in a while I'll have to restart it for some reason.  Also
sometimes the line in becomes inactive (not sure why) on it's own, but
just hitting volume up or down seems to bring it back to life.
