That is not an error. This is the python extension for MPI. Python
extensions are loaded by python, they don't start with 'lib'. If
you add the directory containing mpi.so to your PYTHONPATH and execute

Is there anyway to disable building the python related code in boost?
I know it's a part of Boost, but I just don't care about python 99% of
the time 'cause.... well... I'm programming in C++ :~] -sc
