Yes, it was awesome! There was a team from Cambridge MA -NERDS who made
a torpedo like device to propel 2 divers through an underwater obstacle
course and they won.
I'd like to do that, but my mechanical skills stop with legos. I just
used a soldering iron for the first time in my life a few months ago [to
build my theremin]. It worked, but it's a long way from a soldering iron
to an welding torch.
I saw the whole episode on the demolition teams. The guys with the
battering ram beat the hydraulic arm- which just proves something that
software engineers have known for a while- Keep It Simple, Stupid.
I could help with the parsing of data streams- writing socket
interfaces- applying public key cryptography ...
